NATIONAL CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT

The National City Fire Department has a proud history of serving the residents of National City since 1887, making it the longest continuously operating Fire Department in San Diego County for over 135 years. Our dedicated team upholds a strong reputation for exceptional training, allowing us to effectively handle any challenges in our all-risk environment with a commitment to protecting the community and ensuring the safety of its residents.

The NCFD serves a diverse community of approximately 63,000 residents across a nine (9) square mile jurisdiction. Our commitment goes beyond the city limits as we also serve the Lower Sweetwater Fire Protection District, the Port of San Diego, and Naval Base San Diego. In Addition, we work collaboratively with neighboring departments through mutual aid agreements, ensuring comprehensive coverage and support for our surrounding cities.

We strives to prevent destructive fires from occurring through public education and thorough code enforcement. For those fires that do occur, we provide early confinement and extinguishment while minimizing the risk of further property damage, injury, and loss of life. In addition, we provide immediate rescue and medical aid to citizens who become victims of sudden illness and/or accident.

With a focus on compassion and expertise, our team is always prepared to respond to emergencies, ensuring the well-being and safety of our community members. We take pride in our long-standing history of service and remain dedicated to upholding the highest standards of excellence in all that we do.
