MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
FIREFIGHTER REQUIREMENTS
AGE REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must be 18 years of age at time of application
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a current valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certificate issued by the State of California or by an EMT certifying agency approved by the State of California, County of San Diego EMT System ID Card.
Certificate for Basic Life Support for the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Current Valid Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT)
Current placement on the FCTC state wide eligibilty list
HIGHLY DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid California Paramedic License (EMT-P) is highly desirable.
**New hires with current Paramedic Certification will be eligible for Paramedic duty after completion of department approved certification process with the City of National City, and be eligible to receive an additional 15% incentive pay to their hourly base salary for as long as they maintain a valid EMT-P Certification.
Full time paid firefighting experience with a munical fire department
Completion of an accredited Firefighter I Fire Academy
Current National City or South Bay San Diego Resident
